Active from 1994 to 2004, and then from 2009 to 2012, Creed was prominent in the post-grunge movement of the mid-1990s. The band consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed released two studio albums, My Own Prison in 1997 and Human Clay in 1999, before Marshall left the band in 2000. Their third album, Weathered, was released in 2001 and featured the singles "My Sacrifice", "One Last Breath", and "What If". Creed disbanded in 2004 after Stapp was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the band members began to pursue solo projects.
