La Messa di gloria, dite aussi Messa a quattro voci, a été composée par Giacomo Puccini pour son diplôme de fin d'études musicales, dans sa ville natale de Lucca (Lucques), en Toscane, et y a été créée le 12 août 1880. Cette œuvre en cinq mouvements donne déjà un avant-goût de l'extraordinaire puissance dramatique qui deviendra plus tard la marque de fabrique du compositeur : de douces mélodies se développent en fugues frénétiques, et la louange extatique de Dieu s'achève en "Agnus Dei" recueilli.
