This unique opera series follows the life of the Virgin Queen to the music of Gaetano Donizetti. Episode 2: The Royal Progress... ... where Elizabeth, on her royal tour, stops at Leicester Castle. There we meet her great love, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, who has secretly married Amy Robsart. A love triangle unfolds, reminiscent of a past situation in which Jane Seymour was the love rival of Elizabeth’s mother, Anne Boleyn. Meanwhile, Elizabeth’s own cousin, the Catholic Mary Stuart of Scotland, has become her political rival.
