The singer and oud player Dhafer Youssef, born in Tunisia, first living in Vienna, then in Paris, is one of the leading musicians in the border area between jazz and world music. Auf seiner Konzerttournee wird er vom Pianisten Daniel Garcia begleitet. Bei den Frankfurter Konzerten wird die hr-Bigband, mit der Youssef schon 2022 zusammenarbeitete, von Marcus Lindgren geleitet. Der Sänger und Oud-Spieler Dhafer Youssef, in Tunesien geboren, zunächst in Wien, dann in Paris lebend, ist einer der führenden Musiker im Grenzbereich zwischen Jazz und Weltmusik. Das Traumbild einer von Minaretten gesäumten Straße hat Youssef zu Stücken angeregt, deren tänzerische Bewegungen und Melodien von der Sufi-Kultur und nordafrikanischen Melodien inspiriert sind und die vom orchestralen Bläserklang getragen werden. April 2023 aus Frankfurt. ____________ 🇫🇷 Dhafer Youssef, chanteur et maître du oud, fait infuser jazz et sonorités orientales avec le Frankfurt Radio Big Band, dirigé par Marcus Lindgren. Né en Tunisie, Dhafer Youssef est l’une des figures de proue du oud, cet instrument de la famille des cordes pincées très répandu dans le monde arabe. Après une longue escale dans la capitale autrichienne, il a choisi de s’installer à Paris. La vision d’une rue bordée de minarets lui a inspiré des morceaux aux rythmes ondulants et aux mélodies chatoyantes, nourris de culture soufie et de musiques traditionnelles d’Afrique du Nord. De ce terreau fertile est né son dernier album, Streets of Minarets, au sein duquel collaborent tout de même Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, ou même Dave Holland... En tournée actuellement, Dhafer Youssef est accompagné du pianiste Daniel Garcia.
