Episode Title: Cécile McLorin Salvant - Nancy Jazz Pulsations – ARTE Concert Episode Content: La théâtrale et singulière chanteuse Cécile McLorin Salvant, trois fois primée aux Grammy Awards, défend son dernier album Ghost Song avec son quintette (piano, guitare, contrebasse et percussions) au festival Nancy Jazz Pulsations 2022. Formée au chant lyrique et au piano au conservatoire d’Aix-en-Provence, bercée par le jazz, le blues, le folk, les comédies musicales et le cabaret, la chanteuse et compositrice Cécile McLorin Salvant a très vite conquis son public. Elle débute sa carrière aux Etats-Unis et en Europe avec notamment Wynton Marsalis ou Rhoda Scott, et remporte son premier Grammy Award avec l’album For One to Love en 2015. Elle en empochera deux autres, dans la catégorie "meilleur album de jazz vocal", avec les albums Dreams and Daggers et The Window. Lauréate de la bourse MacArthur 2020, elle reprend de manière très personnelle les standards du Great American Songbook mais propose aussi des compositions originales. Ses interprétations virtuoses rendent chacune de ses performances live uniques. Die Sängerin und Komponistin Cécile McLorin wuchs mit Jazz, Blues, Folk, Musicals und Cabaret-Musik auf. Nach einem Gesangs- und Klavierstudium am Konservatorium in Aix-en-Provence eroberte sie sich schnell eine große Fangemeinde. Sie begann ihre Karriere in den USA und Europa an der Seite von Wynton Marsalis und Rhoda Scott und gewann 2015 ihren ersten Grammy für ihr Album For One Love. Zwei weitere Auszeichnungen in der Kategorie „Best Jazz Vocal Album“ bescherten ihr die Platten Dreams and Daggers und The Window. Als MacArthur-Stipendiatin nahm sie sich 2020 auf sehr persönliche Weise der Standards aus dem Great American Songbook an und schuf daneben auch Eigenkompositionen.
