Sofie Fatouretchi, alias Sofie Royer, crée une forme de pop qui s’affranchit des conventions et des genres. Née en Californie, l’Austro-iranienne allie une formation classique en violon et en composition avec un sens aigu de la pop comme langage culturel. Avec son parcours on ne peut plus atypique – violon à l’Orchestre philharmonique de Vienne, DJette à Londres, membre du label Stones Throw à Los Angeles –, elle s’est façonné une identité artistique qui oscille entre discipline et déconstruction, et concilie élégance, expérimentation et pas mal de contradictions. Dans son troisième album Young-Girl Forever, joyau new wave sorti en 2024 et encensé par la critique, elle aborde les thèmes de la jeunesse éternelle, de la féminité et de la mise en scène de soi. Sofie Royer jongle avec talent entre ironie, pathos et glamour sans jamais perdre de sa profondeur musicale. Sa voix et ses performances sont un prodigieux pot-pourri de théâtralité baroque, de culture club et de pop art – la recette des expériences hypnotiques réussies. Au Reeperbahn Festival Collide, Sofie Royer déploie toute la puissance de son dernier opus : opulence visuelle, précision émotionnelle, un spectacle à la lisière du concert et de la performance artistique. Car loin de se contenter d’abolir les frontières entre club et scène, elle transforme ses concerts en expériences corporelles, quasi cinématographiques. Sa carrière s’est construite autour de la musique, de la mode et de l’art : collaborations avec Toro y Moi, Anderson .Paak, Lewis OfMan et Kavinsky, compositions pour le cinéma (Emmanuelle d’Audrey Diwan en 2024), lives à la BBC, à Radio France, à la ZDF ou chez KEXP. Sans oublier ses performances sur mesure pour Chanel, Gucci ou Hermès, qui illustrent à la perfection son approche transdisciplinaire, où la pop tient lieu de scène, le style de langage et l’attitude de constante. Sofie Royer incarne à merveille la raison d’être du Reeperbahn Festival Collide : le dialogue du classique, de l’avant-garde et de la pop, jamais figé, toujours en mouvement. Alors que l’effervescence de Noël envahit les rues de Londres, Ebenezer Scrooge, vieux notable cupide et aigri, n’est pas d’humeur aux réjouissances. Après avoir décliné l’invitation à dîner de son neveu et refusé la charité à des bonnes œuvres, il donne congé à contrecœur à son malheureux clerc, Bob Cratchit, qui file retrouver sa famille pour un bien maigre réveillon. Rentré chez lui, bien décidé à passer la soirée à recompter son argent, Scrooge reçoit alors une étrange visite : celle du spectre de son ancien associé, mort quelques années auparavant après une vie d’avarice. Les visions successives qu’il présente à Scrooge – des scènes de Noëls passés, présents et futurs – feront de ce dernier un homme changé… Ébouriffant spectacle L’immense classique de Charles Dickens – conte moral publié en 1843, à une période de renaissance victorienne des festivités de Noël – se prête merveilleusement à une transposition à la scène sous forme de ballet. Et sa morale, un hymne à la générosité et à l’amour du prochain dans un monde gangréné par les injustices sociales, reste, hélas, d’actualité.
